The Pithy Amateur Astronomer

The adventure and aggregation of a short-winded amateur astronomer.

Found this on the interwebs and thought I would re-post it. It's an amazing picture of Europa, Jupiter, and the Great Red Spot. I wonder how Jupiter would appear from Europa. I do not know where I found the image at but if I do or you know, I will be glad to cite it.

Europa and the Great Red Spot was on display at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum's exhibition, Beyond: Visions of Planetary Landscapes, from May 26, 2010 - May 2, 2011.

Europa (upper right) is slightly smaller than Earth's Moon. Jupiter's Great Red Spot, a vast cyclonic storm system about two times the size of Earth, is surrounded by other oval storms and banded clouds.
